Button Quails

My button quails are the only totally indoor birds that I have.  Since these are delicate little birds and I live in Iowa it is to cold for them to be caged out doors.  I currently have 15 buttons that live in a 40 gallon aquarium.  I use a sand base with pine shaving over that.  I use a wire mesh lid that had plastic plants wired to it for some cover.  I also have a small box with a hole cut out of one side for them to hid in if they want.  They are so much fun to watch and listen to.  They do not make a lot of noise but once in a while will call out 3 or 4 times.  They are not as easy to tame as a parakeet  but are very enjoyable just the same.  It is very easy to hatch out the babies and they are the size of Hersey's kiss when they hatch.  They can take care of themselves just like baby poultry.  They are very fast growers and can be reproducing as early as 6 to 7 weeks.  If you would like to buy button quail eggs I also sell them and will give you as much advice as you need to have happy buttons.  I usually get 6 to 7 eggs a day.
