Guineas I have to say that Guineas are my favorite birds. They are wonderful pest destroyers!! To use them in their true capacity they need to be able to roam your property. This can make finding the eggs difficult at times. Note: These are VERY NOISY BIRDS!!!!! They will ALARM at anything and at any time. Mine will go off when my children are out playing, when my husband goes out to do chores, or at any stay or strange animal they see. If you plan on owning this type of bird it is good to have the ability to tune their call out, kinda like when you tune out your kids whining..lol They will alarm when they see snakes in the grass or other rodents. They have been known to attack snakes and mice. You will want to watch them if you have bees or a flower garden for butterflies. They are bug eaters and are not picky about what they eat. They are expert fliers and will roost in trees and rafters if you let them. If you raise them with your chickens they will roam with them too. They have been known to try and mate with other poultry. Mine are to young right now but it will be interesting this spring. I currently have about 25 guineas of various colors. These all run together so there will be a variety of color possibilities with these eggs too. I also plan on buying more colors to add with these birds. 1/2dozen $20.00 1 dozen $25.00 |
